HDS' World Vision Sponsorship: Kesang

Kesang lives with his mother, 1 brother, and 2 sisters. His mother is an agriculture laborer and struggles to provide for the family. Despite her efforts, it is difficult to meet the family's needs.

Kesang is growing up in a poor community located south of New Delhi, the capital of India. Homes are constructed of wood with tin roofs and dirt floors. A typical family diet consists of rice, potatoes and beans. It is very dry in this region, with temperatures ranging from highs over 90 degrees to lows just over 30 degrees. The mountainous terrain is rocky and dry with trees and grasses.

Kesang is not in school at this time. He likes to play with toys. He helps at home by learning to do small tasks. He is in satisfactory health.

HDS is helping to provide Kesang and his community with clean water, education, job skills training, improved health care and hygiene and regular medical checkups. In addition, World Vision provides agricultural training that helps farmers improve crop yields and increase the family income.
